Bible Principles

and the Marine Corps

The strength and success of any organization will depend on how many Bible principles that are adopted by that organization. Since the Bible has the solutions for any problem, it just makes sense that using Bible principles will lead to success. The Bible solutions are not only the best solutions; they are the only solutions that will guarantee success. Other solutions, conceived of outside of the Bible, or in opposition to the Bible way, will not only cause failure, but will cause greater problems! The Bible principles will prosper an individual, a family, a business, a government, an organization, and even a nation if followed.

Over the course of the history of the United States, many wars have been fought. War is an essential part of history. A country that is trying to do right has either just fought a war or needs to be preparing for the next war! What happens is that when God blesses something, others envy the success and seek to steal the blessings without giving the glory to God! All wars start because of lust:

James 4:1-4From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

War is inevitable and predicted! National failure comes from within the nation as the nation stops preparing men to fight wars. Besides the basic skills of Math, History, Science, and Communication, young men and women need to learn the basics of self-defense and national defense. This is not only to protect themselves, their friends and family, but also their godly nation from the attacks of evil men.

The study of how to successfully fight and win wars is not something that needs to be shunned or made to be evil. A thorough historical study of this needed skill is essential!

One of the reasons the United States was successful in the wars it engaged in was that most of the wars were either to defend our nation, or other nations from evil men! Another reason the United States was successful is that they had trained marines that fought bravely in battles. One of the major reasons that marines are successful is because of the incorporation of Bible principles. Most of these have been incorporated without the knowledge of them even being in the Bible.  Like most Bible principles, they are basic common sense!

I spent four years as an active-duty marine from February 1978 to February 1982. My time in the Marine Corps changed my life. I went in as a confused, angry young man. While in the Corps, God revealed Himself to me, revealed His great salvation to me from the Bible, and saved my soul! I liked the marines and wanted to stay in. However, I really wanted to learn the Bible and follow God. I got out and went to Bible institute. I will always appreciate the training I received in the Marines. It had a profound influence on my success!

The purpose of this study is to look at the similarities of the Marine Corps and the Bible principles that make the Marines a special organization among the nation’s fighting forces.

Sadly, I don’t recommend any young Christian become a marine today. I tell young people to make sure it is the will of God for them to join. I see the Corps changing along with our country as they incorporate traditions, teachings, and doctrines that are not right. Not only are they not right; they are in opposition to the successful Bible principals that not only made the Marines a good organization but also made this nation successful:

Psalm 146:5 “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:”

Psalm 144:15 “Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.”

Realizing that the Corps needs strong Christians, just like all aspects of society, I also realize that the right young person, who is directed by God, can make the difference not only in the Corps, but in this nation! My son went in during the time of war with Afghanistan. He, like me, was also greatly changed by his time in. Changed in a good way! He went in as a Christian and was able to lead people to the Lord and navigate the challenge of serving during war!

These principles from the Bible compared to their use by the Corps will help you to be a better Christian.
