Introduction
Are you interested in being happy, successful, and satisfied? Of course, you are! Do you want to know what you are supposed to be doing? Once you figure out what God wants you to do, you will be on your way to living a successful and satisfying life.
If you are looking for the will of God, Proverbs 16 is a good Bible chapter on understanding how to find it. It is a good place to start the analysis. I am convinced that God has a purpose for every individual on this planet. I am also convinced that the only way to find personal peace, happiness, and satisfaction is to find out what God wants you to do and then to attempt to do it. God not only reveals many things about Himself in the Bible, He uses the Bible to personally speak to an individual on what it is that they are supposed to be doing during this short life. The purpose of this study of Proverbs 16 is to shed some insight and allow you to reflect and perfect on why you are here and what you should be doing!
Reading and meditating on the Proverbs allows God to transform your mind and allow Him to reveal His will. I recommend that you spend lots of time in this book. What I do is read a chapter every day of the month. Since there are 31 chapters and many months have 31 days it fits well. When the months have less than 31 days, I get to read more than one chapter. It is like a second helping! It is like two scoops of ice cream instead of just one!
To properly find out what God wants you to do starts with preparation. One thing that God does, and is good at, is preparing people for the tasks that He has for them. No one wants to be set up to fail. There is nothing worse than showing up unprepared to do the job. Believe me, as a maintenance technician, very few things cause failure like not being prepared. It is important to have the right tools, extra parts, installation and troubleshooting instructions, and help to see that the job is done right, on time, on budget, and properly functioning and appealing to the eyes. Having the place clean when you leave is also important! You must be prepared to do the job, do it right, and make the customer satisfied. Many people fail because they don’t do the preparatory step first.
Most failures are the result of improper or lack of preparation. While it is possible to be overly prepared to the point that much is wasted, or the job is never attempted because of a lack of tools or skills to do the job. For years I studied the Bible and read commentaries, studied history, and sat at a desk. Eventually, I got fed up with being fed up. I realized that I had been taking in and it was time that I started putting out! That is why I write, teach, exhort, and preach. It is to help others prepare for what it is that will make them successful.
Usually, the failure of the preacher is that he is not willing to do the preparatory work first. Many people start something and never finish. The world is full of unfinished tasks, people, and projects.
With this idea and need to prepare, look at Proverbs 16:1.
